bangsar residence

We found this project to be immensely satisfying. The original house was constructed in the 1970s and belonged to a prosperous Malay family. While the structure was grand and boasted decorated ceilings and arcades covered by arches, it had become outdated by contemporary standards. The property remained vacant for more than a decade, and it was in a state of disrepair during our initial visits, with all electrical cables and wooden plank flooring stolen, and even housing bat families.

To ensure that the house met modern living standards while preserving its existing structure and foundation and making the project financially viable, our design team decided to remove the original facade and extensively add new structure. The outcome was a new, horizontal facade featuring large glass openings and a new roof, making the property habitable while retaining its original charm.

This project demonstrated that with careful planning, skillful execution, and a creative approach, it is possible to renovate old structures into beautiful and functional living spaces that are in tune with modern life while preserving the heritage and character of the original property.
