We had the distinct pleasure of joining His Excellency Niklas Johansson, Sweden’s Ambassador to Malaysia, for a thoughtful and forward-looking dinner at his official residence. The evening focused on the exciting developments in Malaysia’s floating solar energy sector, with insights shared alongside Seaflex, a global leader in floating solar mooring systems.

Our discussion explored the challenges and opportunities surrounding large-scale floating photovoltaic (FPV) deployments in Malaysia, particularly in collaboration with glo

bal technology leaders. His Excellency expressed keen interest in Malaysia’s renewable energy transition, and the role floating solar can play in meeting national clean energy goals.

Sweden has long been a trusted partner to Malaysia, contributing world-class innovation through companies like Scania, Volvo, IKEA, AstraZeneca, ABB, H&M, and Electrolux. With continued support from the Swedish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, we look forward to deeper collaboration with Swedish corporations in the areas of solar energy infrastructure, mooring technology, and sustainable development.

At Ascendas Design Group, we are committed to leading Malaysia’s transformation in floating solar development, and proud to be part of the conversation that shapes a more sustainable future — both locally and globally.
